  • Eucharist Adoration

    Tuesday Dec 3, 2024 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM

The Eucharist is the center of the life of the Church and by giving Honor to God, Eucharistic Adoration touches the heart of her mission as expressed in the Our Father: “Hallowed be Thy name, Thy Kingdom come; Thy will be done…” Jesus is truly present under the appearance of bread with His body, blood, soul and divinity. Christ loves us to the point of dying on the Cross for us as St. Paul exclaims, “He loved me and delivered Himself for me.” In Adoration we respond to Jesus’ prayer: “Pray with me, stay with me, watch and pray.”

In the Eucharist, Jesus offers Himself to the Father and He deserves our worship and adoration. Pray as you like. Reading and meditation lead to communion with the Lord or just bask in the light of the Eucharist. St. John of the Cross said: “One instant of pure love is more precious in the eyes of God and more profitable to the whole Church than all good works put together.” Come before the Blessed Sacrament to share your pure love.

Allow Christ to work on you and through you. By coming before the Eucharist, you tell the world that the Eucharist is the Word of God made Man. St. Pope John Paul II said about adoration: “The Church and the world have a great need of Eucharistic worship. Jesus waits for us in this sacrament of love. Let us be generous with our time. Let us be generous with our time in going to meet Him in adoration and in contemplation that is full of faith and ready to make reparation for the great faults and crimes of the world. May our adoration never cease.”

  • Reconciliation

    Tuesday Dec 3, 2024 5:00 PM to 5:45 PM

Reconciliation is offered every Saturday at 3:30 P.M. and every Tuesday at 5:00 PM.

OR by appointment, Please call Parish Office to schedule at 414-762-0552.

    Why Go to Confession?

Not only does the Sacrament of Reconciliation free us from our sins but it also challenges us to have the same kind of compassion and forgiveness for those who sin against us.  We are liberated to be forgivers.  We obtain new insight into the words of the Prayer of St. Francis:  "It is in pardoning that we are pardoned."

Jesus entrusted the ministry of reconciliation to the Church.  The Sacrament of Penance is God's gift to us so that any sin committed after Baptism can be forgiven.  In confession we have the opportunity to repent and recover the grace of friendship with God.  It is a holy moment in which we place ourselves in His presence and honestly acknowledge our sins, especially mortal sins.  With absolution, we are reconciled to God and the Church.  The Sacrament helps us stay close to the truth that we cannot live without God.  "In Him we live and move and have our being."  (Acts 17:28)

  • Choir Rehearsal

    Thursday Dec 5, 2024 3:00 PM to 4:30 PM

Sacred Music is a glorious and beautiful expression of prayer. In the Roman Catholic tradition, text and music corresponds to the mystery we celebrate, the structure of the rites, and the seasons of the liturgical year. In the course of the history of the Church, we have a rich heritage of musical styles including chant, polyphony, standard hymns, folk, and gospel, meditative contemporary tunes, simple melodies and rousing songs. Each style speaks to the heart of the faithful of various ages, cultural backgrounds and levels of faith. As we participate in the singing of texts of Sacred Scripture within the context of Sacred Mystery, it resonates within our hearts. Music sung together within the context of the sacred liturgy is a unifying force. Instrumental music inspires. Come and join us!

    • Cantors lead the psalm and assist the assembly’s singing for 4:30pm Vigil Mass and 8:30am Sunday Mass. We rehearse during the week as needed.

    • Our choir meets on Thursday afternoons from September through May from 3:00 PM to 4:30 PM. We lead the psalm, assist the assembly’s singing, and sing a prelude and meditation for the 10:30am Mass each weekend and on Holy Days.

    • Instrumentalists are welcome to join us at all Masses. We rehearse during the week as needed.

  • Children's Liturgy of the Word Mass

    Sunday Dec 15, 2024 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM

The Mass and its readings can be difficult for our younger children to understand and comprehend. At designated Masses, we offer Children’s Liturgy of the Word. Just before the First Reading, children are invited to THE COMMONS to hear and experience the Readings and Gospel of the day, in an age-appropriate, engaging and more accessible format. Students are led by qualified and dedicated leaders who share the Readings and a reflection. Students then participate in an activity to engage their other senses in the Gospel message and return to Mass during the Offertory.

Saint Stephen's Prayer and Worship Committee

The role of the standing committee is to nourish and give direction to the liturgical aspect of the parish life by ensuring that parishioners are provided with opportunities to deepen their faith through a variety of prayer experiences and liturgical celebrations.

Meetings are the second Tuesday of each month September through May from 6:30 P.M. to 7:30 P.M.  (VIRTUAL)

Attendance is not required at meetings.

Prayer and Worship Committee responsibilities include:  altar linens, baptismal roses, Sacristy maintenance, and prayer leaders.

    Mission Statement

We the Prayer and Worship Committee are dedicated to providing St. Stephen’s Congregation the opportunity for Eucharist and other prayer experiences in a warm, welcoming and nurturing environment formed by the liturgical principles envisioned by Vatican II.

    Vision

To welcome and build participation in our Prayer and Worship Committee

    •  To have adequate representation on Prayer and Worship from all liturgical ministries

To develop and encourage participation in our music ministry:

    • Encourage additional cantors

    • Enhance the adult choir.

    • Cultivate additional singing groups (youth choir, guitar ensemble, etc.)

    • Increase use of instrumentalists at liturgies.

    • Create new groups such as a brass choir, string ensemble or youth band.

To encourage participation in our liturgical ministries:

    • Train and assist hospitality ministers, greeters and ushers.  Ministers chose their mass time.

    • Recruit lectors.  Lectors are given a workbook and are scheduled for reading at masses.

    • Nourish and support Eucharistic ministers.  Eucharist ministers take a cross from the board when they attend mass.

     To foster prayer opportunities:

    • To foster adequate catechesis

    • To promote a core of Ministers of Communion who take Eucharist to the homebound, sick and elderly every week.

  • Eucharist Adoration

    Tuesday Dec 17, 2024 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM

    Thursday Dec 19, 2024 3:00 PM to 4:30 PM
