Catholic Faith Formation

You’re Invited to Be a Catechist!

We need catechists and helpers for the 2021-2022 school year! Classes begin in September and run through mid-April.

As a catechist, you’ll plan and teach classes throughout the year. You’ll have tremendous amounts of resources (printed, digital and human) at your fingertips to help you along the way.

St. Stephen’s and the Archdiocese of Milwaukee are absolutely committed to the safety of our students.

All those who work with children in any capacity (even as volunteers) must meet the requirements of the Archdiocese of Milwaukee, including attending mandatory safe environment training.

We know you may have questions or concerns; we’ve heard a lot of them over the years. Let us ease your concerns.

Thank you for your interest in becoming a catechist.

Please contact, Steven Torres, Director of Catholic Formation/Safe Environment 414-762-0552 or [email protected]

Welcome Mr. Steven Torres as St. Stephen's new Director of Religious Education.

Dear St. Stephen Families,

Thank you to the many families who have extended to me a warm welcome during my first few months at St. Stephen’s. I am excited and grateful that Fr. Robert has given me the opportunity to serve as the Director of Religious Education, and to help form our young people through catechesis rooted in our Catholic tradition. As the primary educator of your child’s faith, we ask that you give priority to Religious Education, pray and practice traditions at home that nurture and instill the Catholic faith but most importantly give priority to faithfully participating in weekend Mass as a family and the sacrament of Reconciliation.

As we prepare for this catechetical year:

Enrollment:

To enroll your child(ren) in Religious Education classes at St. Stephen, please fill out the Registration Forms. Forms which can also be scanned and emailed [email protected] Please turn in enrollment forms ASAP or by the July 14th deadline.

Kick Off, Safe Environment Night & Pick Up: September 8th

We will have a kick off night in-person to begin the year so families and students can attend the mandatory Safe Environment presentation which explains safe boundaries put on by the Archdiocese of Milwaukee; also pick up their books and other materials they will need for class. Many teachers will be available as well, so your child may be able to meet their teacher in person before classes begin.

Catechists and Volunteers:

If you are interested in being a Catechist or Assistant Catechist this year, please let us know. You will receive a discount on tuition! Pass your faith along to the next generation of CATHOLICS.

Family Service Hours:

We will be continuing Family Service Hours this year, we hope that you will volunteer to help your parish whenever you can. Specific classes will have required service hours which will be explained further throughout the academic year and in their particular class.

Stewardship:

A grateful response of a Christian Disciple who recognizes and receives God’s Gifts and shares these gifts in love of God and neighbor. Please give of your time, talent & treasure. Did you know the cost of formation for one child is more than $369.00 a year? Please support our Parish & its ministries through sacrificial giving at a minimum of $260.00/year ($5 x 52 weeks) and become actively involved.

As always, please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions. We look forward to partnering with you in and throughout this formation year!

Peace and all good,

Steven Torres, Director of Religious Education
